Guided Salmon Fishing

For experienced or first-time salmon fishers visiting the area, we offer full day guided excursions to fish for salmon on various rivers.

Our local salmon rivers are the Alness and Conon that flow into the Cromarty Firth; and the Carron, Shin, Cassley & Oykel  that flow into the Dornoch Firth via the Kyle of Sutherland.

For most day excursions, we fish the private Novar Fishings beats of the River Alness, one of the most picturesque salmon rivers in the Scottish Highlands.

Having managed the Novar Fishings for 12 years, we have an intimate knowledge of all the beats and have an enviable record for helping guests catch their first salmon.

Subject to availability, we can offer guiding for single anglers to a full beat of 4 rods (anglers).

Fishing on the River Shin and Cassley is also relatively straightforward, and in the spring, permits for individual days on the River Conon and elsewhere are often possible, though this becomes more difficult as the season progresses.

If you are staying nearby, we can collect you from your accommodation, or we can meet at one of our meeting points from where we will take you on to the river.

Shore Excursions
If you are visiting Invergordon as part of a cruise, we can collect you from your ship, take you salmon fishing for the day, and return you in plenty of time for your evening sailing.

North Coast 500
If you are touring the NC500, then the best opportunity for a guided salmon fishing trip will be when travelling through the Alness to Dornoch area, which could be at the beginning or towards the end of your trip, dependent on your direction of travel.
