River Glass
TroutQuest has exclusive access to over 4 km of brown trout fishing on the River Glass (Aalt Graad). The beats extend downstream from the outflow of Loch Glass. Although the River Glass does have a run of salmon, Black Rock Gorge downstream of the TroutQuest beats is impassable to migratory fish.
This is a rain-fed trout stream (free stone river). Immediately below the loch the upper stretches run through open moorland and forest, but further down much of the banks are heavily wooded with alder and conifers, suiting wading and roll casting more often than not. Trout are generally small, but very receptive to upstream dry fly and nymph.
