Loch Glass
Loch Glass lies at an elevation of approximately 215m and reaches depths of over 100m. It runs parallel to Loch Morie and is even larger in size, at 6.3 Km in length and with a surface area of 485 hectares (1200 acres). It is the primary water source for most of the Easter Ross area. Loch Glass is very different from Morie from an angling perspective. There is no access to migratory fish, and there are also no arctic char, hence there are fewer ferox trout. This enormous body of water takes a long time to warm up, and hence it generally doesn't fish well until mid-summer.
Typically the trout around the margins of the loch are small but plentiful, so in its glorious setting, with the chance of seeing red and sika deer, golden eagle and other birds of prey, this is still a wonderful day out, and a good loch for the beginner.
