Guided Fly Fishing & Excursions

Guided Fly Fishing
No matter how experienced you are, nothing can replace 'local knowledge' and we can provide professional guiding and ghillie services on all of the waters that we fish, to optimise your opportunity to catch fish during your visit.
Trout Fishing
We can provide dedicated guiding for individuals or small groups on any of our local trout lochs on a half day or full-day basis. We can take you to the lochs, provide you with tackle if necessary, advise you on tactics and the best flies to use, and when afloat, operate and control the boat so that you can concentrate on catching fish.

For all of our guiided fishing and excursions we can provide all the necessary fishing tackle that you will need, so you can 'travel light'.

Salmon Fishing
We have an intimate knowledge of all the Novar beats on the River Alness. We can provide you with tackle, take you to the beats, show you where to fish and how to fish, and ensure your fly is covering the salmon lies effectively; dramatically improving your chances of success.

If you are a large group fishing the Alness as part of a sporting week, then it is likely that you will have a mixture of experienced and inexperienced fishers. We can instruct and guide the less experienced, or just provide a ghillie for the duration of your fishing.

We have an amazing record for helping guests catch their first salmon. We have now had over 100 'first salmon' caught by our guests, most of whom had taken our instruction or guiding services!

Day Excursions
For experienced fly fishers visiting the area, we can offer full day guided excursions locally to fish for trout or salmon.

If you are staying with us or nearby, we can collect you from your accommodation, and take you out for an exciting day of guided trout or salmon fishing. If you are visiting Invergordon as part of a cruise, and looking for some fly fishing action during your tour, we can collect you from your ship, take you fishing for the day, and then return you in plenty of time for your evening sailing.

Overnight and Multi-Night Excursions
For the passionate and discerning trout fisherman determined to fish the very best wild brown trout lochs that mainland Britain has to offer, we can take you by 4-wheel drive vehicle on a fly fishing adventure to Wester Ross, Caithness, Sutherland or Orkney lasting from a single night to a full week.

We travel by 4WD vehicle with our own petrol and electric outboard engines and occasionally our own boat & trailer. We stay at the best local hotels or guest houses to ensure your comfort.

Excursion Destinations
All of our local waters in Easter Ross are detailed in the Trout Fishing & Salmon Fishing sections and are easily fished in a day excursion.

The map below shows the locations of some of our favourite day trip and excursion destinations that are further away. While some of these can still be fished on a day excursion, staying locally overnight significantly increases the amount of fishing time available. The lochs of Assynt can be reached in under 1½ hours, those of Caithness in 1½ - 2 hours and the Durness lochs in 2+ hours. Orkney (not shown) should really be considered as a minimum of 2 night excursion, as the travel time to/from Evanton is 4-5 hours including the ferry trip.
